Excursions:

Castle Hill, Sphere Viewpoint:
The Castle Hill is a wildlife sanctuary, a popular excursion place in summer and winter. The Sphere Viewpoint introduced in the 1958 world fair is on the top of the hill has become a symbol of Balatonboglár. Tourists have been enjoying the 360 degrees view opening from the viewpoint for decades. Since 2013 there is a bobsleigh run and an adventure park on Castle Hill.

St. Elizabeth Memorial Park, Red and Blue Chapel, Medeival temple ruin
A few minutes walk from Castle Hill there is Chapel Hill that has been restored also in 2013 in a series of renovations including many spots in town. The Red and Blue Chapels can be found here in a beautiful park. From spring to autumn the chapels give home to various art galleries. The space in front of the Red Chapel can be transformed into an open air stage where the plays of Csiki Gergely Theatre can be enjoyed. Int he vicinity of Blue Chapel there is a ruin of a medeival temple. We can enjoy a beautiful view of the hills of the opposite shore. The park can also be visited in the evening since it is a beautiful sight when it is all lit up.

Temples

The Glorification of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church was built in 1932 by the plans of István Kotsis, and was consecrated in memory of the Glorification of the Holy Cross. There is a wooden statue of St Stephan in front of the church and a statue of Pál Teleki in the park near the church. The new evangelical church ont he foot of Castle Hill was planned by Tamas Nagy in 1999.

Wine tourism:

There are many official stations of South Balaton Wine Route in Balatonboglár. You can find everything here from world famous wineries to private cellars and restaurants offering local food and excellent wines. One of the most well known events is the Balatonboglár wine harvest that is organised in Pier Walkway where the winemakers of the region offer their wines personally. The event also gives home to a fair, cultural programs and various concerts.

 

Beaches:

Platán Beach, Bubble Amusement Beach
The worthily famous Platán beach of Balatonboglár that charges no admission fee was renewed also in 2013. There are sandy sports-grounds, a basketball court, a labirynth of willows and playgrounds under the sycamore trees. Surrounded by these attractions you can find the Boglár Bubble complex with gyroscope, water playground, two giant slides, jacuzzi and children’s pool, ideal for families with small children. The Bubble Complex has an admission fee.
